Beer is considered the great Czech tradition but wine is also produced here – and while it is not one of the best vintners in the world, the white sorts are not that bad, especially some of the regional grapes (for example, Veltlínské zelené), and there are a few drinkable reds there are some good wine bars in Prague. Prague is the central city of Europe, and you can find a full range of internationally famous wines. More and more wine importers offer very high quality wines imported from the great wine growing regions of the world, so you can find the best wine in Prague hotels too.

Real wine bars in Czech language have the name “Vinny Bar” although “vinarna” also means you can get a drink there too. One of the best places to try wine is National Wine Bank. Wine lovers can have interesting meetings with this lovely and unique beverage and will get to know the local brands of the best quality. Customers can have sample of the National Wine Bank’s bottle of wine before they buy it. Dégustation parties take place there. National Wine Bank is open from 11.00 – 20.00 Monday – Friday.

U Zavoje is Dum vina, or “house of wine,” however it includes not only a wine-bar, but also restaurant, coffee-house, Cognac store, cheese – delicatessen shop and accessories merchant. Restaurant features an excellent well chosen list of wines and you can taste a glass of almost every bottle from the best Moravian, international to the most famous French wines thanks to the unique technology of the Le verre du vin vacuum device and storage with wine-cellars at optimal temperature.

Other place is CELLARIUS, a joint trademark of two wine shops and clubs in Prague, this wooden emporium offers 1500 wines from all over the world. The most popular shop is in the Lucerna passage, just off Wenceslas Square. It is a good place to come to learn about the vineyard secrets of Moravia.

Monarch is another great wine shop and wine bar with more than 25 varieties of cheeses and a good selection of regional sausage. This bar has the best South American or California imports, plus the best local vintages.

Vinarius is an excellent little wine shop near Flóra shopping centre on quiet street parallel to Vinohradská. This wine shop and bar delivers a wide selection of variously priced Czech, regional and imported wines. You can drink your chosen bottle of wine at a table and chat with the knowledgeable owner about vintages.

V Zátiší Wine Restaurant offers excellent choice of wines. You can order the ‘Best of Bohemia’ menu or the ‘Best of V Zatisi’ menu, with the optional wines. These special menus change frequently and the new selected sorts of wine appears to fit the reputation of wine restaurant.
