If you’re tourist staying in hotel Prague for short time then you probably won’t use buses. But if you live here for some time and you are staying in some obscure suburbs then buses can be useful for you.
During day and night time buses operate similar to tram operation. Regular day buses run from 4.30 a.m. till 12 p.m. and night-time buses service is provided by bus numbers 502 to 514 and 601 to 603 at the rest time. During a day interval is usually 6-8 minutes in peak hours, 10-20 minutes in other time and 15-30 minutes on weekends and holidays. For night time buses interval is 40 minutes. Bus timetables are placed at individual stops.
Passengers must buy the tickets before boarding the bus and stamp at once when enter a bus. A two-zone ticket covers the entire city centre is enough if you are not going outside of Prague.

You can buy the tickets in the automatic machines or in any tobacco store. Other option is to buy the tickets by SMS. You just need to send DPT as a text in sms to the number 902 06 26 and during two minutes you will get an electronic ticket to your mobile phone in the form of SMS.
Special bus lines 1 and 3 offer service for disabled people in wheelchairs and the routs connect the suburbs Cerny Most II, Jizní Mesto II, Nové Butovice and Repy with the centre of Prague (Metro station Florenc) where the change of lines is possible. These lines operate during the working days only.
If you are traveling outside Prague then you will see that bus is the cheapest way to travel in Czech Republic and across Europe. A bus might be quite a good option as Czech Republic has connection to/from major European cities several times a week. Main bus station is Florenc (Main Station) and most international buses arrive there. You can find there some travel agencies that will help you with the schedules, fares etc. However some buses go to Roztyly bus station. Other bus stations are for routs within the Czech Republic.

metro line C station Nadrazi Holesovice, Partyzanska ulice, Praha 7- covers mainly north Bohemia
Černý Most – Metro line B, Černý Most, Prague 9, Chlumecká ul.
Tickets for buses outside of Prague you can buy in advance or at the board of bus if available.
